DTF Printing and How it Works

Direct to garment printing, or DTG, has become increasingly popular but it has some drawbacks. Traditional DTG struggles to print on caps and garments that have polyester like sweatshirts or performance t-shirts. But with a modified process called Direct to Film printing, these issues have been easily resolved. This modified method allows us to print on items and produce a highly detailed and vibrant design. Further, the design is incredibly durable. It’s so durable that it’s practically bullet proof.

Step 1

Art Prep

DT-Film printing can print poor quality images. Nonetheless, for the best results, art preparation may be required.

Step 2

Printing the Films

Similar to how our DTG machine prints directly to garments, it prints directly to the surface of a film transfer.

Step 3

Adhesive

Adhesive is added to the film and heated to a low curing temperature. This melts the DTG ink and adhesive together.

Step 4

Heat Pressed

The designs/films are heat pressed to the garment. Once fully cured, the design is permanently adhered and the film is peels away.
